Language Proficiency Assessments

Our Language Proficiency Assessment helps your organization ensure that your bilingual staff  is communicating your message effectively with languages other than English.

This assessment is ideal for professional interpreters and prospective employees. It is conducted over the phone (20 to 30 minutes), and measures the following competencies:

Berkeley Language Institute will assist you with assessing bilingual staff competencies to ensure that your organization complies with industry standards, and more importantly to improve the stisfaction among your non-English speaking customers.

The oral test evaluates listening, comprehension, and reading skills. The written test evaluates reading, comprehension, writing skills, grammar, syntax, and spelling.

The Customized Interpreter Assessment evaluates interpreting skills, sight translation, and knowledge of industry specific terminology in the foreign language, as well as the cultural sensitivity of the interpreter. We have had great success with organizations involved in the healthcare, law enforcement, business, and education industries.
