This
course requires a good level of fluency and comprehension in both
Spanish and English and is developed to help participants studying for
the State
of California Court Interpreter Certification Oral Exam. You
will learn how to prepare for the exam with practical test-taking
techniques, strategies in consecutive and simultaneous interpretation,
and sight translation training. In addition, participants will leave
this class with practice materials and a list of legal terminology
which will expand your chance of success.

Instructor’s
Bio
Angela
Zawadzki, PhD. has over 20 years of experience as an English-Spanish
Federal and California State certified interpreter, skilled in
simultaneous, consecutive and sight interpreting. She is also an
English-Italian interpreter in the legal and private sectors.
She has worked both in the United States and abroad in a variety of
settings such as State and Federal courts, attorney-client interviews,
depositions, administrative hearings, technical and business
conferences, training seminars, press conferences,
bilateral/multilateral negotiation talks, film festivals, among others.
In addition, she is an experienced language and literature instructor
in Spanish, French, and Italian, as well as a trainer of legal,
community, and educational interpreters and bilingual personnel. She
also designs and teaches workshops for Spanish interpreters planning to
take the California State interpreter exam. Angela earned her graduate
degree in Comparative Literature from the University of California,
Berkeley. Angela was born in Colombia, and has lived in Colombia, the
Netherlands, France, and Italy.
