Mateo Rutherford,
M.A.T.T.I. holds a Master's Degree in Spanish - English
Translation and
Interpretation from the Monterey Institute of International Studies,
and
an MA in Biology from UC Berkeley. He has worked as a translator and
interpreter in Asia, Latin America, Europe, and the United States.
He has taught Discourse and Text Analysis, Translation I and II, Sight
Translation, Consecutive Interpretation, Computer Assisted Translation,
and Technology for the Translator at the Universidad de Especialidades
Espirito Santo in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
This course is for anyone
who wants to learn more about translation
software in general, and gain enough basic skills to begin working with
Wordfast. The course will begin with an introduction into different
translation memory software and components; basic functions such as
segmentation, alignment, glossary and TM; and the many benefits for the
translator. TM software is not just for translating updated editions of
previously translated documents. It can help you manage your time and
translate text embedded in html code, maintain consistency throughout
your translations, and much more.
This course requires a working understanding of Microsoft Word, and an
installed trial version of Wordfast.
